NDEE presents Hazardous Waste Determinations webinar
The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) will present a Hazardous Waste Compliance webinar on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at 11 a.m. This seminar is intended for any facility that generates hazardous waste in the State of Nebraska. It will provide information for professionals involved in hazardous waste management and will address the specifics of waste determinations. The seminar is also open to the general public.
The webinar is a continued effort of the agency to make compliance easy for the regulated community and engage stakeholders. It supports the Department’s vision of protecting and improving human health, the environment and energy resources.

About the webinar: The Hazardous Waste Determinations webinar will help hazardous waste generators in Nebraska understand and perform waste determinations. The webinar will be useful both to individuals new to RCRA regulations and those already in the industry. While it will primarily focus on the process of waste determinations, it will also include information on common violations from inspections and proper disposal of various common materials.
About the presenter: Erik Waiss is the Environmental Assistance Coordinator for the Waste Section in the Land Division of the NDEE. Waiss holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geosciences with emphasis in Geology and a Master of Science Degree in Geology with emphasis in Sedimentology and Paleoclimate Change, both from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He has worked primarily in Nebraska since his graduation with several consulting firms since 2005. He earned his Professional Geologist License from the Nebraska State Board of Geologists in 2009. After providing environmental expertise to his clients for several years, Waiss joined NDEE in 2012. He currently provides compliance assistance for solid and hazardous waste regulations through the Waste Compliance Section of NDEE.
