NDEE produces a monthly metrics report to measure what the agency has accomplished; to set annual and longer-term goals; and to examine these goals against accomplishments to ensure continuous process improvements.
 Accomplishments
- The Water Well Licensing program renewed 600 of 800 well professional licenses by Dec. 31 – more than the licenses processed by April of last year’s renewal period. This is the first time the program used the agency’s new online credentialling portal to renew licenses, which has improved the process.
- NDEE held a public information session and two public hearings for the AltEn facility on Dec. 14 at Mead High School. The hearings were for a proposed individual Industrial Stormwater Permit, which was issued Dec. 29, and the AltEn Facility Response Group’s wastewater remedial action plan, which is still under review by the agency.
- The State Revolving Fund section finalized the ARPA Private Well Reverse Osmosis Rebate program, which included posting the application, an instructional video, and the contract template for those who will be awarded the rebate. NDEE began accepting applications Jan. 1, and the application period closes March 31. Awards will be made in April.
Emerging risks/issues
- The Missouri River Ice Jam task group formed and is working on immediate and long-term policy, responses and technical issues. Electrical generation, water treatment, state and federal agencies are cooperating.
Miscellaneous
- The Environmental Protection Agency has added the PCE Carriage Cleaners site in Bellevue to the Superfund National Priorities List (NPL). This is a historic dry-cleaning site where tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) exceeds maximum contaminant levels in sub-slab soil gas and indoor air in nearby properties. Placement on the NPL makes this site eligible to receive federal funding for long-term, permanent cleanup.
