NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE
The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) proposes to reissue, with change, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System/Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPDES/NPP) permit to Wholestone Farms, Inc., 900 South Platte Avenue, Fremont, NE (NPDES/NPP #NE0001368; SIC 2011). This facility is a meat packing and swine slaughtering plant. Process wastewater discharges through Outfall 003 to the Elkhorn River, Segment EL1-10000 in the Elkhorn River Basin, via the City of Fremont publicly owned treatment works. Non-process wastewater discharges through Outfall 004 to an undesignated tributary of the Platte River, Segment LP1-20000 in the Lower Platte River Basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet, and other public information are available for review and copying at NDEE’s Lincoln Office, 245 Fallbrook Boulevard, Lincoln, Nebraska 68521 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (CT), weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
