EXTENSION OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD
ON NOTICE OF INTENT TO
RENEW AND MODIFY PERMIT #NE0054739 FOR
OPPD NORTH OMAHA FOSSIL FUEL COMBUSTION ASH LANDFILL
Under consideration by the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE)

PUBLIC NOTICE has been given of the NDEE intent to renew and modify Omaha Public Power District’s (OPPD) permit to operate a fossil fuel combustion ash disposal area in North Omaha, Nebraska in accordance with Nebraska’s solid waste management laws and regulations.

NDEE has received a request for a public hearing. Consistent with the directed health measures that have been placed on public gatherings in Douglas County to prevent or limit the transmission of a communicable disease, COVID-19, and avoid unacceptable risks to the public, NDEE will extend the time period for the public to submit additional written comments to NDEE on this proposed permit action, but will not hold an in-person public hearing. Written comments received will become part of the administrative record upon which a final permit decision will be made.

Written comments should be sent to David Haldeman, Land Management Division Administrator, NDEE, PO Box 98922, Lincoln, NE, 68509-8922. All written comments must be received in the NDEE office or post-marked by April 25, 2020.

FACILITY LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION. The property is located at 7475 John J. Pershing Dr., Omaha, NE. The disposal area is used for the disposal of fossil fuel combustion ash which includes flyash, bottom ash, slag, and flue gas emission control ash generated from those OPPD North Omaha power plant units that utilized coal as the primary fuel source.
