NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) proposes to reissue, with change, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System/Nebraska Pretreatment (NPDES/ NPP) permit for Hornady Manufacturing Company, PO Box 1848, Grand Island, NE (NPDES/NPP# NE0121720; SIC 3482). This facility manufactures ammunition products. Non-process wastewater discharges through Outfall 002 to an undesignated tributary of Warm Slough, a tributary of the Platte River, Segment MP1-20000 in the Middle Platte River Basin. Process water discharges through Outfall 003 to the Grand Island Utilities Ditch, an undesignated tributary of Wood River, Segment MP2 -10100 in the Middle Platte River Basin, via the Grand Island Wastewater Treatment Facility. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet, and other public information are available for review and copying at NDEE’s Lincoln Office, 245 Fallbrook Boulevard, Lincoln, Nebraska 68521 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (CT), weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
