NDEE announces additional Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant awards
LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy has announced additional awards through its Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program.
Nebraska received EECBG funds from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support local communities in implementing high-impact, self-sustaining clean energy projects.
The two additional grant awards are:· Emerson – $100,000 to fund a 500Kw (AC)/650kW (DC) photovoltaic solar tracking facility at the village’s wastewater treatment facility
· Glenvil – $55,434 to fund updates to sidewalks and pathways throughout the community
Eligible projects included upgrades to energy efficient lighting; installation of renewable energy systems on government buildings; development of alternative transportation infrastructure such as pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths; and public education to promote energy efficiency and conservation.
In August, NDEE announced EECBG grant awards to 12 Nebraska communities. With the additional grant awards announced in this release, the EECBG program has distributed more than $1.1 million in funding.
