March 2023 Monthly Metrics

NDEE produces a monthly metrics report to measure what the agency has accomplished; to set annual and longer-term goals; and to examine these goals against accomplishments to ensure continuous process improvements.

Accomplishments
  • The Energy Team held an information session and public hearing on the Grid Resilience Formula Grants on March 7. Nebraska is expected to receive $5.4 million each year for five years under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will be distributed to projects that enhance the resilience and reliability of the electric grid. NDEE accepted comments, suggestions, and preferences for the program’s development.
  • The Drinking Water Field Services Section signed two new contracts with Midwest Assistance Program. These contracts provide assistance to public water systems serving less than 10,000 people completing mandatory Lead Service Line Inventories and with routine sanitary survey preparation, new operator mentoring, and general technical, and financial/compliance assistance.
  • EPA approved Section 319 Project Implementation Plan for Lake Hastings. This project is to develop a Watershed Management Plan to identify factors that are contributing to the impairment of Lake Hastings and present a strategy to reduce pollutant runoff in the watershed. Once an agreement is signed by NDEE and the Upper Big Blue NRD, the project can receive up to $40,000 in reimbursements from NDEE.

Miscellaneous
  • The Air Permitting team placed Sustainable Beef’s air permit on notice for public comment. NDEE will also host a public information session and public hearing in North Platt on May 4.
