for McCook Solid Waste Transfer Station
under consideration by the
Nebraska Department of Environment & Energy

PUBLIC NOTICE is given in accordance with Title 132 - Integrated Solid Waste Management Regulations, Chapter 2, §011, that the Nebraska Department of Environment & Energy (NDEE) has received an application to renew the permit of McCook Solid Waste Transfer Station, 1801 W Old Highway 6 & 34, McCook, NE 69001. After review of the permit application, a preliminary determination has been made to recommend renewal of the permit. The term of the permit shall be ten years from August 16, 2022, through August 15, 2032.
FACILITY DESCRIPTION. The permit allows the operation of an existing solid waste transfer station under Nebraska's solid waste management laws and regulations. The purpose of the facility is the collection of municipal solid waste and transporting said waste to a permitted municipal solid waste landfill. Recycling activities also occur at the facility.
FACILITY LOCATION. The property is located at 1801 W Old Highway 6 & 34, McCook, NE 69001 on the southwest edge of McCook, Nebraska. The legal description of the McCook Solid Waste Transfer Station, a transfer station and recycling facility, is generally described as the W½, SW¼, Section 30 Township 3, Range 29 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian, Red Willow County Nebraska.
OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENT AND HEARING. The public may submit written comments and may also request a public hearing on the permitting decision. A request for a hearing must be made in writing and state the issues proposed for discussion and their relation to the proposed permit renewal. Public comments and hearing requests shall be made to: Daniel LeMaistre, Waste Permit Section Supervisor, Nebraska Department of Environment & Energy, P.O. Box 98922, Lincoln, NE 68509-8922.
The NDEE will make a final decision to renew or deny the permit based on the permit application, the compliance status of McCook Solid Waste Transfer Station, and public comment received. NDEE will notify the applicant and other interested persons.
COMMENT PERIOD. All comments or requests for a hearing must be postmarked by June 17, 2022.
