October 23, 2020 – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, in coordination with the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy, sent the annual Drinking Water Needs Survey to every public water system to help the Department develop a list of eligible projects for community public water systems and prioritizes these needs. The information on the Needs Survey is also used to implement the Department’s capacity development strategy for existing water systems, in effect since August 6, 2000. The needs surveys filled out in 2020 will be used to develop the 2022 Intended Use Plan.
Filling out this survey in no way commits a community to undertaking a drinking water project or signing a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan.
In addition, you will find our “2020 Water/Wastewater Operator Questionnaire” available above. This questionnaire is intended to be completed by the water operator. As we strive to maintain a resilient drinking water and wastewater workforce in Nebraska, we are looking to those working in the water industry to help increase our ability to promote and advocate water industry jobs.
DHHS is requesting that communities fill out the form and send it to the address listed below, postmarked by December 31, 2020. Forms can be mailed to:
